PFAS and it’s effects

PFAS are a group of man-made chemicals that have been used in manufacturing. These chemicals can be found in common household products such as firefighting foam and stain resistant fabrics. PFAS are used to help protect the natural environment and water sources, but they also have the potential to cause health effects in the humans that come in contact with the chemicals. This PFAS contamination of water causes chemical seepage into underground water, which eventually ends up in our domestic wells and municipal drinking water sources. PFCs can cause cancer, birth defects, and other developmental problems in children. Certain types of PFCs can also affect thyroid hormones which are important for proper brain development during pregnancy, causing reduced IQ and mental development by the time a child is in high school. PFASs have also been linked to hormone disruption, obesity, and elevated cholesterol levels. While the health effects of PFAS are not yet fully understood, the research that has been conducted shows a correlation between PFC exposure and negative health outcomes.

The Legal Process

There are many laws that protect people from being harmed. One law is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Safe Drinking Water Act, which protects people from being exposed to chemicals and other substances in their drinking water. If you believe your drinking water has been contaminated by chemicals or other substances, you can file a lawsuit against the manufacturer of that product. If you have been impacted by contaminated water, such as being exposed to lead or being poisoned from toxins, there are certain legal steps you can take. The first step is filing an attorney complaint. After you file the initial complaint, the next step is to file a lawsuit. You need to fill out a form with the details of your case and attach any supporting evidence. If your case goes to court, you will be able to present evidence in front of a jury.

PFAS and Your Chemical Exposure

PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are a class of chemicals that are used in many everyday products such as nonstick cookware, firefighting foam, and water repellent fabrics. These substances have been used for decades now and are found in natural and man-made material alike. The concern is that these chemicals have been linked to a range of health concerns including cancer and thyroid problems. PFAS can also pollute the environment by finding their way into soil and groundwater.

What can you do if you believe your PFAS exposure has caused health problems

Poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, are man-made compounds that are used to make products like non-stick cookware and Teflon. They have been linked to a variety of health problems including cancer, kidney disease, developmental problems in children, and thyroid disease. The EPA has set stricter regulations on the amount of PFAS allowed in drinking water. If you believe that your exposure to PFAS has caused health problems, you may want to speak with your doctor or contact a lawyer.

Conclusion

PFAS can be found in water, food, and soil. It is a toxic chemical that does not break down. Health effects of PFAS include increased risk of cancer, elevated cholesterol levels, decreased fertility rates and more. The EPA recommends eliminating PFAS from drinking water by 2025.
